To import, transport or store explosives you need a permit. This is arranged by law trough the “vuurwerkbesluit”. The vuurwerkbesluit AB 2000, nr 46 Vuurwerkbesluit Sint Maarten can be downloaded. (text in Dutch)
This chapter is divided into 4 sections:
- For the import of explosives and fireworks
- For the transport of fire works and explosives
- For the display or fireworks and blasting of explosives
- For the storage and selling (contact the section prevention of the Fire Department)
1. The import of fire works and explosives
The import of fireworks and explosives is immediately transport to a other ship or airplane to a next country. For this a import permit is requited. To get the permit you need to:
- Bring your application within 6 weeks before the request.
- Fill in the forms 1A, 2 and 3 email or Fax 542-6526 them to the Fire Department
- The Fire Department will calculate the amount of stamps you need and will fax or email you the invoice.
- Get the appropriated stamps from the Island Receiver (Soualiga Road)
- Get the appropriated stamps from the Federal Receiver (E.C. Richardson Street)
- Bring the stamps to the Fire Department.
2. The transport of fire works and explosives
The transport of fireworks and explosives is when the cargo will be transported on the road or lagoon of Sint Maarten. For this a transport permit is requited. To get the permit you need to:
- Bring your application within 6 weeks before the request.
- Fill in the forms 1B,2 3 and email or Fax 542-6526 them to the Fire Department
- The Fire Department will calculate the amount of stamps you need and will fax or email you the invoice.
- Get the appropriated stamps from the Island Receiver (Soualiga Road)
- Get the appropriated stamps from the Federal Receiver (E.C. Richardson Street)
- Bring the stamps to the Fire Department.
3. For the display or fireworks and blasting of explosives
For a display of fireworks or to detonate explosives in Sint Maarten display permit or blasting permit is requited. To get the permit you need to:
- Bring your application within 6 weeks before the request.
- Fill in the forms 2, 3, 4 and 5 email or Fax 542-6526 them to the Fire Department
- The Fire Department will calculate the amount of stamps you need and will fax or email you the invoice.
- Get the appropriated stamps from the Island Receiver (Soualiga Road)
- Get the appropriated stamps from the Federal Receiver (E.C. Richardson Street)
- Bring the stamps to the Fire Department.
